This week we got to meet the mentors in person. We got some more direction about the rocks behind the speaker, being advised that they should take up more space and use multiple rocks instead of just one. I went ahead and did some tests, though I've also got some inspiration photos as well.

I used MegaScans models of cliff faces for the majority of the test background.

I also used a method where I took a texture from MegaScans and edited it. I used multiple mountain nodes alongside the MegaScans texture, which I set to around 0.2 scale in terms of normal depth. Combined with the MegaScans texture, I used a total of 5 mountain nodes. One for large bumps, one for small bumps, one applied to a cube to use a bounding box and group some points at the bottom of the wall, and one to apply to those grouped points to make them bulge in and out significantly.

Troubleshooting:

I did not run into any technical errors, but there was certainly a lot of consultation with the rest of my team in order to refine the artistic direction of this specific set element.
